Volunteers




The Center, primarily funded through the NYS Department of Labor's Displaced Homemaker Program, serves over 300 women per year from the Capital Region area of New York State, including Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Columbia, and Greene counties.


How Can You Help? 

Volunteer Opportunities at WERC (Women's Employment & Resource Center)

Thank you in advance for getting involved, sharing your expertise and MAKING A DIFFERENCE.

1.  Become a WERC Networking Ambassador:

    a.   Attend community events with the goal of enhancing awareness and generating support for WERC

    b.   Bring a representative or a graduate from WERC, providing guidance and coaching, strengthening their networking and public speaking skills.


2Join a Committee:

    a.   Annual Awards Luncheon

    b.  June Networking Event 2011

    c.   Tri-City Valley Cats Women in Business Student Reunion

    d.   Kathy Lanni Scholarship


3. Speakers:

    a.   HR Related topics

  •   Employer Expectations, References, Negotiation, and / or Background Checks

    b.   Workforce Information

  •   Starting your own business or opportunities within specific industries/fields


4. Off-Site Computer Tutors / Mentors:

    a.   Computer Applications, Career Counseling and / or E-Learning


5. Mock Interviews – In Person and by Phone:

    a.   Provide student feedback

    b.   Offer to provide on-site interviews.
