The American Society For Training And Development is the world’s largest association dedicated to workplace learning and performance professionals.

The Workforce Investment Board’s mandate is to conduct strategic planning, create policy, and provide oversight and accountability for adult and youth training programs funded through the Workforce Investment Act.  The Capital Region Workforce Investment Board was created to serve Albany,  Schenectady, and Rensselaer counties.  Check out their “State of the Workforce” report and “Three-Year Plan” on their website.

Goodwill Industries is one of the world’s largest nonprofit providers of education, training and career services for people with disadvantages, such as welfare dependency, homelessness, and lack of education or work experience, as well as those with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities.

The purpose of the Job Placement Consortium is to facilitate job placement of individuals represented by its members, to inform employers about advantages and financial incentive programs available when hiring these individuals, to participate in community awareness and advocacy activities in order to improve opportunities for individuals seeking employment, and to assist members by providing a forum for networking and professional development.

The Center For Workforce Success is the training and education affiliate of the NAM’s Manufacturing Institute.  The mission of the Center is to find and promote workforce solutions for manufacturers in a global economy, in order to build the workforce skills and creative contributions that American industry needs today to strengthen its competitive advantage tomorrow.

The employment and training administration administers federal government job training and worker dislocation programs, federal grants to states for public employment service programs, and unemployment insurance benefits.  These services are primarily provided through state and local workforce development systems.  The Employment And Training Administration offers information for employers on several topics including tax credits and other hiring incentives, finding and training employees, and employment and training grants.

US Wired provides state and local government and businesses with training solutions.  Using new e-Learning technology, they have provided training programs to more than 25,000 employees in New York State and California

The Workforce Development Institute provides the Capital District with training conducted by professionals working in the field.  They can customize training based on an employer’s needs.
